Sprout Club is a portrait series of all the major milestones of your baby’s first year, photographed by master portrait photographer Parker Smith.  Three sessions and your choice of a 5×7 gift print from each session are included.

In your first session, we capture the beauty of your newborn baby.  Your second session takes place when your baby is sitting independently, or just starting to crawl.  We photograph the third session when your baby is standing independently.  A four-month-old “tummy time” session is available for an additional $75.

We are more than happy to schedule an individual session at our standard session fee.

When you call to join Sprout Club, we will schedule your first session and your first ordering appointment.  Your Sprout Club session will be 1 1/2 hours, to allow for diaper changes, feedings, etc.  Your ordering appointment is an hour long, and will be approximately one week after your session. A couple of days before your Ordering Appointment, we will send you a link to a password protected webgallery where you can preview your images and select your favorites.  At your Ordering Appointment, we will project your portraits at actual size.  This is the time when we will design wall collections and talk about albums.

Although Parker creates portraits in a variety of styles for the studio, years of experience with hundreds of babies has convinced Parker that black and white best showcases the wonderful facial expressions of babies and highlights the emotional bonds of family with their newest addition.
Great black and white portraiture is not easy.  Parker has been photographing digitally and on film for over 20 years, and still creates his fine art work on black and white film.  Parker paints with light, and his portraits have incredible depth and richness. Viewing them on a website only hints at their true beauty. You simply have to see them in person!
With each session, once we have captured the classic black and white portraits, you do have the option for one clothing change, which we generally photograph in color.

Absolutely. We want to capture the whole experience of that first year, including mom and dad and any siblings.

For the Sprout Club portraits, it is best if the parents wear long-sleeved dark shirts without pattern.  Men look best in a shirt/sweater with a collar.  Women should bring a solid cardigan in a mid to dark tone if not wearing a long-sleeved shirt.  Babies look best naked or in a diaper cover we provide.  At each session, please bring several of baby’s cutest outfits.  At the sitting session, it is nice to include family heirlooms or a special silver rattle or cup.

Fun!  You will enjoy a relaxed experience at our stylish and comfortable studio. Many people find that having that dedicated time with their family is truly wonderful.

Yes! Although Parker’s portraits are about emotion and expert lighting (and not photoshop trickery,) he has been working with Photoshop since 1998, and can retouch out baby acne, crusty noses, scratches, boogers, bumps and bruises. All of our finished portraits are fully retouched, but with a light hand; we want you to look like a real human being, and not a plastic robot family.

Our standard studio creation fee is $250.  For Sprout Club, we have put together a special package for $349, which includes three custom sessions and a 5×7 gift print of your choice from each session.  An optional four-month-old session is available for $49.
